Festival Daze | Welcome to the Dark Side

Bralette Forever21 | Skirt H&M | Shawl Vintage | Boots Urban Outfitters | Crown DIY

For my second festival themed look, I opted for something a little darker. Playing with textures like lace, velvet, and tulle helps to keep the outfit interesting instead of falling flat like a traditional black ensemble. Inspired by the more bohemian looks worn at festivals like Coachella and The Governor's Ball, I incorporated a flower crown and a little fringe to my normally edgy style. I had so much fun with this shoot, and I'm really happy with the way it turned out (especially the balloons)! Let me know what you think!

Stay on the Dark Side,

Shine Bright Like a Diamond

"Find light in the beautiful sea, I choose to be happy."

For the couple of weeks that led up to my senior prom, I can't exactly say I was thrilled. I would be lying if said that being one of only four girls who would attend prom without a date made me happy. However, a few days before the big night, I had a change of heart. I was going to enjoy myself no matter the situation I was in. Despite the circumstances, I chose to be happy. And guess what? It worked. They say that attitude can change everything - they're  right. I had the most amazing time at my senior prom. From pictures to dinner to dancing to bowling, it didn't matter that I didn't have a date. I was with my friends, and I was having the time of my life (not to mention that I danced the night away in the most gorgeous gown). Paired with simple strappy heels and a fun clutch, it (and I) truly shined.

Stay happy,

Samantha

Brights for Bleak Days

Skirt Forever21 | Sweater Forever21 | Knee Highs Target | Boots Hunter | Jacket REI

The non-stop rain has brought flash flood warnings and a rather bleak looking afternoon. However, that means I get to wear my Hunter rain boots! These babies are my pride and joy. They look so beautiful with absolutely everything. On days like today, everything is pretty much shades of gray, so I love to add a pop of color to my rainy day outfits. It's so easy with my bright blue raincoat that not only keeps me dry but also helps me to stand out from the dreary surroundings.

Cami Forever21 | Kimono Topshop | Jeans Topshop | Hat Nordstrom | Boots Topshop | Sunglasses Rayban | Purse Baginc

It's my first week back at school, and, let me say, I have not been enjoying it. Since I'm busy with school, I thought I'd quickly share with you guys an outfit I shot over the break. I absolutely adore this blue wall - expect many outfits in front of this wall. It was the perfect setting to bring out the subtle colors in the new kimono I got for Christmas (Thanks, Mom!). The floaty fabric and pastel colors have me yearning for a warm spring day; I can't wait to escape this cold spell! I hope you're all having a lovely week! Stay warm.

Grand Inspiration

Dress H&M | Coat Grandpa's | Knee Highs Target | Boots Topshop

My source of inspiration today comes, surprisingly, from my grandfather! I actually borrowed this oversized, plaid coat from his closet. "Grandpa Sweaters," (oversized and typically cable knit with large buttons), have been on trend for awhile now, so I thought I would try and introduced the "Grandpa Coat." The freezing weather today gave me the perfect opportunity to introduce it into my wardrobe. I chucked it on over a girly tulle dress and pulled on my knee high socks to give the outfit a bit of edge. I finished off the look with my heeled booties and trusty Rayban sunnies.

Top Nordstrom | Skort Zara | Shoes Topshop | Blazer H&M | Necklace Antique

Since my blog is relatively new, I thought I would update it with some of my old outfits. I love this outfit that I put together over the summer to attend a fashion show that was taking place in my city. My trusty old Zara skort was the perfect compliment to my new (at the time) mock, velvet turtleneck. A white blazer added a pop of contrast to an otherwise all black ensemble, typical for my every day attire. I threw on a thick gold chain to make a statement for the night, and I was all set!

Let's Talk Tartan

Sweater Zara | Blouse Nordstrom | Skirt Goodwill | Tights Urban Outfitters | Shoes Topshop | Hat Antique Store

I was so excited when I found this old tartan skirt in my collection of costumes. Luckily, I had bought this years ago for a 90's theme night. It's literally the perfect skirt for this fall and winter season. Everything from the 90's came back: crop tops, oversized sweaters, plaid, and mom jeans. I love to add a newer twist to throwback pieces like this skirt. I layered my simple black Zara sweater over a white button down and slipped on my favorite suspender tights. My antique black bowler hat and brand new round sunnies were the perfect compliment to this outfit. Let me know what you think!
